Wayplot is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Conformance Status

Wayplot conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.

Our compliance covers:

  • ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act (United States)
  • Section 508 - US Federal accessibility requirements
  • EAA / EN 301 549 - European Accessibility Act
  • AODA - Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (Canada)
  • UAE Federal Law 29 - Rights of People with Disabilities (UAE)

Accessibility Features

For Screen Reader Users

  • All interactive elements have descriptive ARIA labels
  • Live regions announce dynamic content changes (search results, notifications)
  • Proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h6) for easy navigation
  • Skip links to bypass navigation and jump to main content
  • All form inputs have associated labels
  • Images have descriptive alternative text
  • Modals and dialogs are properly announced

For Keyboard Users

  • Full keyboard navigation with Tab, Shift+Tab, Arrow keys
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Keyboard shortcuts for common actions (see table below)
  • Focus trapping in modals prevents losing focus
  • Escape key closes all modals and dialogs
  • No keyboard traps - you can always navigate away

For Users with Motor Impairments

  • Large touch targets (minimum 44x44 pixels)
  • No time limits on any functionality
  • No actions require fine motor control
  • Drag-and-drop has keyboard alternatives

For Users with Vestibular Disorders

  • Respects prefers-reduced-motion system setting
  • All animations are disabled when reduced motion is enabled
  • No auto-playing animations or videos
  • No content flashes more than 3 times per second

For Users with Low Vision

  • Supports Windows High Contrast Mode (forced-colors)
  • Text is resizable up to 200% without horizontal scrolling
  • Color is never the only means of conveying information
  • Text contrast meets WCAG AA requirements (4.5:1 minimum)
  • Focus indicators are visible in all color modes

For Users with Cognitive Disabilities

  • Consistent navigation across all pages
  • Clear, simple language throughout
  • Predictable interactions with no surprise behavior
  • Error messages are clear and suggest corrections
  • Progress is automatically saved to prevent data loss

Wayplot has been tested with the following assistive technologies:

  • Voice Control: macOS Voice Control, Windows Voice Access
  • Magnification: macOS Zoom, Windows Magnifier, browser zoom up to 200%
  • High Contrast: Windows High Contrast Mode, macOS Increase Contrast

Technologies Used

The accessibility of Wayplot relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5
  • WAI-ARIA (Web Accessibility Initiative - Accessible Rich Internet Applications)
  • CSS (including media queries for reduced motion and high contrast)
  • JavaScript (React)

Limitations and Alternatives

While we strive for full accessibility, some limitations exist:

  • Interactive Map: The Leaflet map has limited keyboard navigation. Map markers are removed from the tab order to prevent keyboard traps. Use the activity list for full keyboard access to all attractions.
  • PDF Export: Exported PDFs are tagged for accessibility but may not be fully optimized for all screen readers. Contact us if you need an alternative format.
